Graduation Time!

Well my daughter is graduating so I wanted to make special graduation cards. I purchased black cards with vellum envelopes. I did a floral stamp in blue on 2 corners, and found a quote I liked which I placed in the center (where the card folds together...see picture). I used a similar shade of transparent blue vellum for the insert that had the announcement part on it. The cards were at Hobby Lobby for around $5 for 8 cards/envelopes. I did find out after I mailed them (and then got them back) that you have to be careful with odd sized cards. These were 5x5 and needed extra postage. I thought it might have been the clear vellum envelopes that got them returned, but it was the size. Then I put some blue satin ribbon (wrapped like you might do a Christmas gift). The quote I used is:
“Go confidently in the direction
of your dreams.
Live the life you have imagined.”
Henry David Thoreau

Wedding Invitations

I am a hobby card maker and I wanted to share some of my designs and get to know others with this hobby. The pictures are some wedding invitations I just did for my son’s wedding. I did white out personal stuff. I used white parchment vellum for the outer part and transparent vellum for the wording. I found a cherry blossom stamp and used blue ink. I have found out that it is better to use a brayer to apply the ink to the stamp than to dip the stamp directly in the ink (which can get messy). I also found that an artist gum eraser will remove bits of ink that get smeared where you don't want it. I glued the insert down with just a dab of clear glue and tied it with a ribbon.
My next big project will be a graduation invitation for my daughters high school commencement. I am also about to start planning Vacation Bible School with my church. We are doing a camping/hiking theme with the Friendship Trek curriculum.
Till the next time!!...
